We are
in 1998, and the DCV (Diecast Collecting Virus) began to infect me again
...
I had
already the green model (bought new in the 70's, when i was a child) and
now, i was looking for a "classic" magenta model.
I had
asked around me, to all my friends of my generation, to check it into their
old toys from "when they was young", if they could find for me, a Charger
Mk III magenta model.
Unfortunatly,
with no success.
Perhaps
i need to change my friends, i thinked ... ;-)
Some
pictures and draws of the real concept car ...
The
"looked for" magenta model ...
One day ... my live
was changed
And, one
day, a friend has called and asked me if "it was really a blue model that
interest me ?".
A blue
model ? I'm really not an expert, but if i could remembered the red/magenta
model, when i was young enough to play with, i had never seen a "blue"
model ...
This one
is in "playing with condition", not perfect, but still pretty good, for
a toys, and that was used like a toys.
This car
seems had several young owners since 70's, but all tidy guys ... (not like
me, when i was young, outch ! )
Of course,
i take it, and try to find more info about this one.
We are
in the end of 1999 / begining of 2000. And try to ask "experts" into Matchbox
forums ... but with not to much success. Except about mockeries, of course
... !
Ok, i
keep the car, and think this one is probably a very good custom car. Not
more.
In comparison with the windshield
of other "classic" models, this one seems little shorter ... (?)
Sister act
And more
than one year after, a guy from Quebec, Canada, mail me a picture of a
sister of my car ! Blue and White too ! Is my strange car
not alone ?!? Strange of the strange : it's car, like mine, came from France,
too ! It was found into a "clearance sale" !
(He want
to sale his model ... change one's mind ... and had desappear !
May be
this other model is still somewhere in Canada ?)
Try again !
So, i ask again all the known
Matchbox forums, about this car.
I came here, into this wonderful
land ;-), and ask my question ...
And here, surprise ! No mockeries,
but some answers : this car is may be a pre-version / pre-production of
the Matchbox Superfast - Dodge Charger Mk III !
Vectis, help me !
And someone here, has explained
to me that another blue model were sold by Vectis (2001, January 21th).
The original page has disappear from the Vectis website today, but the
Vectis picture is still in my mind (and in my hard drive ;-) ) here :
The blue one seems not have
winshield. Mine have it.
Why and Who ?
This was all the kno wn story
of this car. Of course, a lot of questions are still unanswered :
If this one is really a pre-pro
model, why and who, has given it to a child to play with !? And it seems
he had at least an other model (the "sister" now in Canada) ?
Or this cars were sold "like
this" into a box ? Not very credible.
I have tried, but i have not
succesfully writted the genealogy of this car. I have identified only the
2 last owners (except me), but no "Matchbox workers" around them ! And
we never had a Matchbox factory in France !
All questions without answers
(for the moment) !
Adds :
Picture taken into the 1969
Matchbox Catalog : We could see a brown "BP" pre-version
